Born amidst the serene mountains of Rishikesh, Shivam Bahuguna’s journey with yoga began at the tender age of four. Little did anyone know, that the child who dreamt of becoming an IAS officer, would one day offer his most profound service to the world through his school of Nritya-Yoga.
As a teenager, Shivam's heart would beat to the rhythm of ballet & contemporary, and the vibrant energy of hip-hop and Bollywood tunes. Dance was his world, his first love. Even when he moved to Delhi University for his higher studies, he couldn’t escape the pull of dance. He worked at renowned dance schools and even taught at CCB – India’s very first ballet school. He worked with Kingdom of Dreams, Asia’s biggest musical theatre. One of his most uplifting experiences was working with various Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Rashmika Mandanna, Sunil Grover and Shakti Mohan.
But sometimes, life has a way of pulling you back to where you truly belong. Shivam’s roots, tied deeply to yoga, called him back. He realized that everything he sought – balance, expression, and a deeper understanding of life – could only be found through the timeless practice of yoga.
He decided to stay, pursue a Master’s in Yoga Studies from Rishikesh, and dedicate himself fully to the art of yoga. Since 2020, Shivam has been sharing his wisdom with the world, teaching thousands of students. Over 1000-1500 souls have walked the path of yoga under his guidance, many of whom have gone on to open their own studios, passing on the knowledge he gave them.
To Shivam, yoga is far more than just postures on a mat. It’s a lifestyle, a journey of self-exploration, a life-altering philosophy that changes how we move through the world. Because of a mix of dance and yoga he named himself “Nritya-yogi” , a yogi who balances body & mind, healing the world through movement.
